    Anza Borrego Desert State Park, about 45 minutes south of Indio. "Anza-Borrego Desert State Park encompasses some of the most diverse desert landscape in the world. It includes elevations from 8,000 feet to below sea level, together with the characteristic plants and animals of these ecological zones. Borrego Springs is 'The Town within the Park' and has fine resorts and restaurants."
     
  Boomer's Family Entertainment Center. Attractions include "Batting Cages, Bumper Boats, Gameroom, Go-Karts, Miniature Golf, and Rock Wall." Fun activities for families and groups.

    Eldorado Polo Club, "Something for everybody...From our Junior Polo Program for children ages 4-6 to leagues, tournaments, ladies polo, seniors tournaments and lesson programs, we offer something for every level of polo.     HITS Desert Horse Park, home of the Indio Desert Circuit Horse Shows. More than 1,500 horses compete every week for over one million dollars in prize money. Runs January to March. Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free.
     
    Indian Canyons Enjoy Tahquitz Canyon, Palm and Andreas Canyons, and Murray Canyon, that have some of the largest counts of palm trees in the world. The canyons and associated resources are especially sacred to the Indians today and are historically important to scientists and nature lovers.
     
    Indio Mural Project In the fall of 1996 the Indio Chamber of Commerce formed a committee to develop a Historic Mural Project to help revitalize the economy of the city...The goal of this project is to complete a series of murals." To date "6 murals have been completed...Revitalizing Old Town Indio with a new image and spirit, these murals will become a monument to our past and a vision for our future."
     
    Joshua Tree National Park Visitors have endless opportunities for exploration and discovery in this high desert. Activities include: hiking, camping, backpacking, biking, horseback riding, nature trails, ranch tours, and rock climbing.
     
    Knott's Soak City Waterpark What could be better on a hot, desert day. Meandering river ride, exciting water slides, wave pool, and tube slide. Adjacent to Uprising Rock Climbing Center.
     
    The Living Desert "Within its 1,200 acres you will discover over 425 fascinating animals representing 145 species including coyotes, bighorn sheep, oryx, zebras, cheetahs and meerkats. There are lush botanical gardens representing 10 different desert ecosystems and a journey to "Eagle Canyon," with its streams, mountain lions, bobcats, Mexican wolves and golden eagles is a definite 'must see'."
     
    McCallum Theatre for the Performing Arts. "The Theatre brings an astonishing variety of entertainment and cultural experiences to the Valley," including Tony Bennett, Sheryl Crow, Carol Channing, the St. Petersburg State Ice Ballet, the New York City Opera Company, Ray Charles and Oprah Winfrey. 760-346-6505, Box Office 760-340-ARTS.
     
    National Date Festival This county fair continues to be a highlight in Indio, and is a fun event to attend if you are in the area during the later half of February. All the rides, events, exhibits, and food you would expect, but with an Arabian twist.
     
    Pacific Life Open More than 250 of the world's best men's and women's players compete for one of tennis' most prestigous crowns, the Pacific Life Open. Starts the second week of March.
     
    Palm Canyon Theatre, presents a full schedule of performances, November through May. 760-323-5123.
     
    Palm Springs Aerial Tramway "Ascend two and a half miles to pristine wilderness aboard the World's Largest rotating Tramcars." Hking, camping, nature hikes, and winter activities. Snack bar, gift shop, and restaurant services. This a one-of-a-kind experience that shouldn't be missed.
     
    The Palm Springs Air Museum Presenting one of the world's largest and most exciting collections of flying World War II warplanes, rare and original combat photography, original artworks, artifacts, memorabilia, uniforms, and continuous video documentaries.     Palm Springs Desert Museum has an excellent permanent collection and well as new, changing exhibitions. The museum is also known for its educational programs, performing arts and gala charity events.
     
    Palm Springs Follies, features performers over age 50. This season includes "Hooray for Hollywood," "Rosie the Riveter," "The Best of Vaudeville," and special Internation guest stars throughout the season .At the historic Plaza Theatre from November through May. Other Special Services
    JFK Hospital, JFK Hospital in Indio is putting up a $13.4 million 20,000 sq. foot expansion that includes a 16 bed ICU on the first floor and additional 24 beds upstairs. This will increase the hospital size from 130 to 162 beds. Located in Indio at Monroe and Dr. Carreon Drive, just off Hwy 111.
